While beauty issues such as acne, wrinkles, dark patches, cold sores and hair loss may seem easier to cover up than resolve, correcting them can be as easy as understanding the cause and getting back to nature says holistic health expert and coach, Tyler Tolman. Tolman, who runs an in-demand juice fasting and healing retreat in Bali, shares his top tips on treating common beauty woes – naturally. Acne Cause: Pores becoming blocked with bad bacteria and oil. Can be due to toxins in the liver, bowel or colon; hormone, nervous system or digestive imbalances; and the body’s inability to eliminate waste. Solution: Cut out refined sugar, deep fried and processed foods – keep the diet as ‘natural’ and plant-based as possible. Add in lots of leafy green veggies, avocado, raw nuts and seeds, extra-virgin olive oil, berries, onion, garlic and vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and Brussels sprouts — these help to detox excess hormones, which can help with acne control. Increase water intake to help purity the blood. Aim for 1L of water per 22kg of body weight each day – add organic tea or fruit to your H20 to mix things up. Also try squeezing lemon juice into warm water and drinking first thing in the morning. This will help cleanse the intestinal tract and give you essential vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin C, which help calm inflammation. Adding one tablespoon of alkalising apple cider vinegar to water and sipping throughout the day can also help return an acidic body to an alkaline state. Wrinkles Cause: Skin getting thinner, dryer and less elastic. Dehydration and a lack of ‘good’ oils; lifestyle factors such as smoking, diet and excessive UV exposure; genetics; and ageing may all be contributing factors. Solution: Try Guasha, a form of skin exfoliation (more about this below), then moisturise with coconut oil, which has a natural SPF of 5-7, or organic rose hip oil. Keep hydrated and eat more whole, raw foods – especially Avocado! Rich in antioxidants, avocado is beneficial in preventing aging symptoms and the glutathione in avocado can boost immune systems and encourage a healthy nervous system. Avocado oil is added in many cosmetics because of its ability to nourish the skin and make it glow. I recommend using avocado straight on the skin, let it set for at least 20 minutes, then wash. Hyperpigmentation and dark patches Cause: Caused by increased melanin production, as a result of excessive UV exposure; hormones during pregnancy or from the contraceptive pill; and toxins or imbalances in the liver. Solution: A great remedy is skin cleaning such as dry brushing or Guasha. Used by Ancient Asian, Greek and Egyptian civilizations, Guasha opens up the skin and rids the body of toxins and bad bacteria. To make Guasha, simply mix aluminium free bi-carb soda with triple distilled vodka. Rinse off in the shower then apply a tablespoon of the mixture onto a loofah or in your hands and scrub your entire body, including your face (be gentle at first), then rinse it off completely. Once you’ve exfoliated the skin, apply lemon juice directly to the dark areas and lie in the sun to soak up the Vitamin D. Cold sores Cause: Herpes simplex virus. Outbreaks can be caused by a weak immune system; cold or infection; stress; poor diet choices; and extreme hot or cold to the area of infection. Solution: Improving your general health and immunity is a good start. Selenium is one of the most vital and potent antioxidants for protecting and healing the immune system – try including more brazil nuts and sunflower seeds in your diet. I recommend a daily CABALA (carrot, apple, beets, apple, lemon, and apple) juice. It contains a variety of natural colours, including three different apple types (red, green and yellow) and is super for fighting viruses and infections. For a topical treatment for herpes lesions, apply a dab of hydrogen peroxide, H202 (make sure you buy the 35% food-grade stuff) directly onto the sore, five or six times a day, over a couple of days. It will kill the virus to the core. Lavender oils can help too, as well as consuming garlic, which is one of nature's most powerful tools in fighting infections. Hair loss and poor condition Cause: Stress and anxiety; iron deficiency; hormone changes; poor diet; and kidney imbalances can be contributors. Solution: Stress plays a huge role in the health and condition of our hair, as it creates acid in our bodies, so I recommend taking time out for meditation, yoga, regular exercise – and sleep! A lot can be told from the colour, texture and shine in our hair as these factors are directly attributed to how healthy we are on the inside. So completing a water or juice fast can help detox and heal you from the inside out. Consuming a diet of clean foods, such as raisins, bean sprouts, walnuts, spinach, carrots, and bok choy can all assist in hair loss prevention and hair growth. To help treat all of these beauty conditions, Tyler recommends juice fasting. This act helps cleanse and detox internal organs and redirects energy, normally used for digesting food, into healing the body. You’ve finally brought home your newborn, and you are starting to getting used to a daily care routine. One of the things that are included is taking care of baby’s skin. The skin of a newborn is gentle and soft, as almost nothing else in the world. And because it’s so soft and gentle, it requires extra care. In order to provide your little one the care it deserves, you should know what your baby skin is exposed to and how it to stop it. Babies are prone to irritation, such as eczema, diaper rash, cradle cap or some other skin conditions. The time and love you invest in caring for baby’s skin will prove worthwhile and result with healthy and soft skin, perfect for some mom and baby cuddling. Bubbly days Not every day is bathing day. In fact, bathing your baby too frequently may lead to removing of natural oils in charge of protecting its skin. This might make its skin vulnerable and prone to irritations, such as eczema. Three times per week in the first year is more than enough to keep your baby clean and healthy. As for the very bathing process, it should be done with 2 or 3 inches of warm water in the bathtub. For the first couple of months use scent-free products and restrain from reaching out for soap. Nature way – the best way When choosing the products for baby’s skin care, keep in mind that in this case – less is more. A big choice of soaps, shampoos and lotions should be reduced at a minimum, and all of them should be scent free, for the first several months, and made out of natural ingredients. Avoid products that contain chemicals and fragrances, and opt for some organic skincare, to be sure you are not exposing your baby to harmful toxins which can be found in certain cosmetic products. The same goes for clothes, blankets, and swaddles which should be made a 100% of natural cotton or some other nature loving material. Prewash to prevent
Speaking of clothes, you should wash all the new clothes, blankets and towels before using or wearing them. It’s highly recommendable to use detergents that are labeled as “baby” detergents, because they are supposed to leave fewer residues after washing. If it comes to a rash after using some towels or wearing some clothes, it’s probably your detergent’s fault. The solution is to switch to a milder one, without allergens and fragrances. Dealing with rash hour It is something you can hardly avoid, almost every baby experience diaper rash. But you should be well equipped with knowledge on how to deal with it. The rash happens because inside the diaper the air cannot circulate freely. The prevention you can apply is to keep baby’s skin clean and dry. Don’t skip cleaning it (with water, baby wipe or washcloth) during every single diaper changing. Don’t apply any products, until you are certain that the skin is completely dry. Unleash your baby from the movement controlling diaper sometimes, and give it some diaper-free time. It will benefit the baby’s skin, and also its mood. Everyone dreams about having the perfect skin, without blemishes, dryness and irritations. Sometimes that seems as an impossible dream, and that the only period in our lives when we don’t have skin problems is early childhood. As we grow older, we are getting used to all kinds of skin issues, and due to hasty life we are living, there is almost no time for dedicating the much needed attention to our skin. The truth is, that doesn’t have to be so hard and time-demanding as it might seem, and all the effort we put into caring about our skin will eventually pay off. What should you do and what to avoid, find out in the text bellow. Easy, light and natural It’s understandable you want to keep your skin as clean as possible, but using heavy duty cleaners may do you more harm than good. They are too harsh on your face and may cause irritations. Instead, create a routine of cleaning your face properly and naturally. Try to steam your face before washing (holding your covered head above a bowl with hot boiled water), and then wash it with warm water using the cleaner that suits your skin type, after rinse your face thoroughly and make sure there is no traces of cleaner left. Multi-task to the max As we mentioned, we are living a hasty life, so it is important to find products that multi-task, so you don’t have to juggle with all the aspects of skincare. For skincare, hydrating is one of the most important things, so you’ll need moisturizers that have some other functions. Like, for example, BB creams, that are providing you with foundation coverage, sun protection and moisturizing. How amazing is that? Peeling off the layers Sure, it is important to clean and moisturize, but if you are not exfoliating your skin is not living up to its full potential. Exfoliation/peeling means removing dead skin cells from its surface. It is crucial as we age, because it is helping our skin regenerate. Over-exfoliating, however, can cause dryness, irritation and damage, so limit it to once a week. One other way to replace the old and unhealthy skin cells with new and healthy ones is a procedure called microdermabrasion, which you can get with some products at home or leave it to a professional in a salon or clinic. Healthy inside out Your skin is an important indicator of your internal health, thus we come to the important conclusion that your internal health affects your skin. There are certain minerals and vitamins your skin craves for, and you can fulfill its cravings by eating or drinking food/beverages which contain them. Omega-3 fatty acids are helpful for moisturizing and repairing your skin health, and you can find them in cold-water fish. Selenium is helping your skin regain its elasticity, which you can find in Brazilian nuts, eggs, seafood and garlic. Vitamin C is protecting your skin from the sun, so whenever possible treat yourself with red and green bell peppers, guava or broccoli. USANA’s Proflavanol C100 supplements help nourish your skin from within to protect and defence against cellular skin damage and assists with firmness and elasticity. The antioxidant formulation combines grape seed extracts and vitamin C to help maintain healthy skin and improve skin-aging appearance. USANA’s Gentle Daily Cleanser is a soap-free cleanser to eliminate dirt and impurities without drying your delicate facial skin. A unique formulation of pure-plant extracts deeply cleanses and hydrates the skin, leaving it moist and supple. This refreshing gel is a great way to revive your complexion at the beginning and end of each day. Australians spend over $8 billion on skincare products every year, but when it comes to achieving a truly flawless complexion, it’s vital to nourish your skin from the inside. According to Sheila Zhou, expert Scientist at USANA, leading producer of high quality supplements, “Most people don’t realise diet is a major factor when it comes to having healthy skin. Older cells are constantly shedding and being replaced by new ones, meaning nutrients and hydration is essential to support this fast paced growth process. By consuming the correct foods, paired with a regular skin care routine, you can count on being blemish free.” Ms. Zhou shares her expert tips on which foods will help you achieve flawless skin: 1. Chocolate. It sounds too good to be true doesn’t it?! Many of us have grown up believing chocolate causes break outs, but it actually contains numerous minerals such as calcium, iron, potassium and magnesium which are great for your skin. Also, chocolates rich in flavanols provides dietary antioxidants that confer photo-protection from within, and helps keep everything plump and elasticised. 2. Turkey. Turkey meat has a high level of an ingredient called selenium, a mineral that plays a major role in the health of developing skin cells. Recent studies also show selenium has the ability to prevent sunburned cells from forming on human skin. So make this meat more than a Christmas classic, and enjoy the benefits all year around. 3. Sweet potato. When it comes to vegetables that banish blemishes, sweet potato is the ultimate choice. It is loaded with retinol, a derivative of vitamin A, and this particular ingredient works to speed up the cell renewal process. Not only does this act as a natural exfoliate, but it also nourishes the skin underneath, a win win! 4. Sardines. Whether they’re fresh or canned, sardines are a great way to prevent age spots and wrinkles. This particular fish is loaded with anti-inflammatory omega-3 essential fatty acids and iron which help the body transport oxygen to skin follicles. 5. Spinach. Green vegetables are known for their health benefits, but what most people don’t know, is that spinach may help to reduce the risk of skin cancer. As it is rich in folate, vitamin A, C, E, and carotenoids, spinach may help boost the skin's natural defence against damage caused by UV rays, helps with DNA repair and cell regeneration. So make sure you slip, slop, slap, and spinach. Along with these foods, Sheila Zhou, USANA Scientist, also recommends the following products to help your skin look and feel its best: USANA’s Rice Bran Polisher is a gentle exfoliate that contains natural fruit enzymes, beta-hydroxy acid, and rice-bran beads. It removes impurities and dead skin cells while aloe and other natural emollients nourish and refresh, leaving skin smoother and clearer. Vitamin supplements should not replace a balanced diet. Use only as directed. Always read the label.

Nowadays, having a tattoo has become extremely popular. However, before you get a tattoo, you should take dozens of things into consideration, from contacting an experienced tattoo artist to the sole choice of the tattoo. Tattoos are not just a simple fashion item which you can wear for a couple of days and then throw them away. Once you get them, you will have them forever. That is the reason why you should carefully think your ideas over and choose something that will really depict your character. Don’t choose one of those meaningless, mainstream tattoos such as a firefly on your wrist or Chinese letters spreading down your spine. Be original and go with something that will express your personality and uniqueness. Anyhow, if you have already got tattooed not thinking about your choices and consequences, don’t worry. There are several painful, but effective solutions to this problem. Getting a tattoo you don’t really like was a bad idea, but the only worse idea than this is actually keeping it. That is why you should have it removed. Here are several most effective suggestions for a tattoo removal at home. Avoid using sandpaper Although many people who want to remove their tattoos try peeling them off by sandpaper, this is not a good solution. During the whole process of tattooing, the ink goes through numerous layers of your skin. That is why you can’t simply rub it off. You will just destroy the surface layer of your skin, which could result in infections, bleeding or intolerable pain. Natural ingredients Apricot scrub serves as a great skin peeling. However, using it in a combination with salt is highly recommended, but at the same time, not sufficient tattoo removal technique. It will make your tattoo fade, but it won’t make it disappear. Using Aloe Vera is another great possibility. It has become renowned for its nourishing and moisturizing characteristics that make your skin soft and beautiful. Apart from that, it also serves as a pretty successful means for a tattoo removal. Since it contains a lot of water, it doesn’t let the ink to stay within the skin. It is especially useful with new tattoos. With the appropriate treatment, the results will be satisfying. Tattoo removal cream as the most effective solution As the tattoo removal creams appeared, they triggered numerous speculations. Some people claim that using these creams, they managed to remove their tattoos, while the others share their negative experiences. However, the results depend on many factors such as the thickness of your skin or how long you have the tattoo. If you decide to try this technique, you should first check the side effects and follow the instructions. First things first, you have to properly prepare your body for this procedure. The tattooed area has to be shaved, cleaned and disinfected. You should keep in mind that every tool you have to use needs to be sterile. That is why you should start with boiling water which serves for a sterilization. When the water cools, dip the part of the towel into it and press it onto the skin in order to make it moist. Furthermore, take a gauze sponge, put it into the disinfected and warm water and after that, roll it over the small amount of salt until it completely fuses with water. Brush the tattooed area with the sponge for about a half an hour. If you see that your skin is overly irritated or that it is bleeding, you should stop rubbing. After the 30 minutes, let the skin dry itself and bend it with the gauze. You have to check the rubbed place for infections. If needed, replace the gauze with the new one. When the skin recovers, repeat the treatment. Laser tattoo removal - the safest solution Deciding to remove the tattoo on your own, you take many risks. For instance, if anything goes wrong, you could damage your skin forever. Infections, bleeding, allergies and scars are just some of the possible negative results you might experience. It is unlikely that anything will go wrong if you contact real professionals. There are many clinics where the doctors perform this quite simple medical procedure. For instance, in Perth, laser tattoo removal has become immensely popular since it represents the safest method for removing unwanted tattoos. Finally, as you have already noticed, removing tattoos at home is possible, but no one can still guarantee that the results will be satisfactory. If you are unsecure about all this, you should probably contact an experienced doctor to help you. This article was submitted by Cosmetology & Spa Academy. Located in Illinois, CSA is a beauty school with over 30 years of experience in the cosmetology, esthetics and beauty industry. The winter weather is here and your skin likely took painful notice. While snow covered trees, shrubs and rooftops are quite picturesque, the beauty of winter is counterbalanced by itchy dry skin. Don't let dry skin ruin your winter. Turn it into a minor inconvenience instead of a major annoyance that crimps your style and mood. Below, we outline some winter skincare tips to keep you comfortable throughout the long winter. Prepare For The Elements Strap on a hat, gloves, a scarf and a thick coat before you go outside during the winter months. They'll protect your skin from windburn and extensive exposure to the incredibly cold air. Lip Protection Our sensitive lips are under great duress during the winter months. Always carry lip balm with you when you leave the house. Keep one in your car and one in your purse. Choose a lip balm with lanolin. This is an all-natural, extra oily wax that is derived from the wool of sheep. If your lips are especially flaky, exfoliate them with a clean toothbrush. This will eliminate excess skin. Or, consider using vegetable shortening like Crisco. This is a popular vegan solution to chapped lips. Another vegan remedy is apple honey. Spread it on your lips, let it sit for ten minutes and then wipe it off with a moist cotton swab. There are many more interesting techniques like this that you can learn from enrolling in an esthetics program. Avoid Long, Hot Showers While a long, hot shower feels absolutely fabulous during the winter, it is the quickest way to dry out your skin. Don't spend more than 10 minutes in the shower during the winter. Ideally, your shower should be less than 5 minutes to conserve water and protect your sensitive wintertime skin. Don't turn the water temperature all the way up either. Boiling hot showers will zap your skin's moisture. Stick to a warm or lukewarm shower until the winter is over. Then you can go back to your ultra hot shower water and enjoy it for more than ten minutes. Treating Cracked Feet If your feet are in particularly bad shape as a result of winter's wrath, exfoliate and moisturize at home. Use a pumice stone to scrub those pesky calluses while you are in the midst of your shower. You don't have to do this every single day for it to be effective. Once a week will be enough. However, you should apply a generous amount of moisturizer to your feet on a daily basis. Pick out a moisturizer with lanolin and you can even apply it directly to your nails if they are especially brittle during the winter. Focus on rubbing the moisturizer into your heels as they are often in rougher shape than the other parts of your feet. Try to apply the lotion before you go to bed and wear cotton socks when you hit the hay. These socks actually help your feet absorb the moisturizer as they cause your feet to sweat. Moisturizers work best when they come into contact with warm and wet skin. Eat And Drink With Your Skin In Mind There are specific foods that will nourish your skin. Stock up on foods that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids and healthy monounsaturated fats during the winter. Examples include avocados, sardines, fish, olive oil, berries and nuts. Foods rich in vitamin C also will help your skin. Go for dark leafy greens like spinach and kale. Citrus fruits like tangerines, oranges and grapefruits are also excellent sources of vitamin C. Try to drink plain water over the course of the winter. Avoid alcohol and caffeine as they dehydrate your skin as well as your entire body. Don't go out of your way to down gallons of water each day. An excess of water won't cure your dry skin, but an ample amount will help to maintain the proper level of moisture. Protect Your Head One of the unfortunate results of the brutal winter temperatures and extremely dry air is dandruff. A flaky scalp is embarrassing and totally unnecessary. Be proactive to prevent a dry scalp by reducing your time in the shower. Shower with cooler water and make use of a dandruff fighting shampoo. You can even apply coconut oil, olive oil and vitamin E to your scalp before showering. Such oils activate the oils that are inherent to your scalp. They'll also help to moisturize your brittle hair follicles. If your scalp is especially dry, consider using tea tree oil. This remedy will drastically reduce your scalp itch. Incorporate Oil, Milk And Oatmeal When you prepare a bath in the winter months, you should mix in some grape seed oil or olive oil. You can even put a very thin layer of either of these oils onto your body immediately after you get out of the shower. If you are concerned that it will rub off on your clothing, apply the oil before you go to sleep and settle into your oldest pajamas. You can also add whole milk to your bath to moisturize your skin. Milk has a wealth of vitamins, fats and proteins that really improve skin health. If you are suffering from extraordinarily dry skin, take an oatmeal bath. Whenever you exit one of these special baths, you should add moisturizing dry skin cream or Vaseline before dressing. The sooner you apply the lotion, the better off your skin will be. Modern times are such that beauty of mankind had become one of the stepping stones upon which our society had been built. In order to keep its beautiful face for as long as possible, modern man (or woman) won’t pay attention to whether that way can harm him, and will recklessly do anything needed, just to stay young for some more time. There are several ways to help your skin to keep its vitality and the best thing is, most of them are completely natural! In that way, you are not obliged to expose yourself to the thrisk of skin cancer, as one of the most common causes of exaggerating when it comes to staying young. Sun First advice is not to stay in the Sun for a prolonged period of time. Yes, it may enforce production of vitamin D, which is beneficial to your skin, but it will dry out your skin far more, so the damage is far bigger than the gain. If you are planning on getting tanned, take sunscreen, preferably the one that blocks UVB as well as UVA sunlight, for the latter will dry out, and the first will burn your skin, and can even enforce skin cancer. Food Surprisingly, what we eat can also determine the quality and vitality of our skin. Avoid eating junk and unhealthy food, for it can grease your skin, cause acne. Instead, choose fresh, preferably organic grown fruits and vegetables. Blueberries are, for example a natural anti-oxidant, and will provide you with much needed vitality and thus strengthening structure of all skin layers. And plus, their taste is exquisite. On the other hand, tomatoes, green salad, red onion and yellow peppers are worth mentioning for having the same effect. Avoid tobacco, for it is an oxidant, and will accelerate aging of the skin. Moisturizers and cleaners For being man-made, it is not necessary that medical conditioners are consisted of heavy chemistry, but quite contrary. Many skin care products are based upon minerals and natural elements, such as antioxidants and vitamins. Nevertheless, you should use it with care, and always consult your doctor before starting treatment. Most doctors recommend using some kind of exfoliating product, for it is of utmost importance to remove dead cells of the skin, in order to boost regeneration of the new one. It is also recommended to use moisturizing lotion, as well as increasing intake of the vitamins. A vitamin-complex based pill will enforce regeneration of the skin from the inside. Hydroxy Acids Being once able to find in willow bark, wine and fruit juice, it has been used ever since. Today doctors are using these acids for chemistry peelings, and to the common consumer, the available variant comes in a form of supplements with a much lower concentration, so it has the same effect, but it takes a bit more time. Drawback of this kind of rejuvenation is that in such way the skin is more susceptible to sunburn, so sunscreen is something you must seriously consider. So, with everything said into consideration, it is highly advised to take a careful approach to this matter. Mind your welfare, and consider using supplements which won’t harm you. Besides, nature has a solution for everything, we just need to take the right approach. Creativity boost What kind of food we eat, not just at home but also at the workplace can greatly influence how our creative juices will flow. In some cases, the type of food we eat can cause more damage to our body and even reduce our immunity and result in sickness which will inevitably lead to a dramatic drop in creativity and how we perform. It is a good idea to keep a healthy diet and to keep food and herbs which can increase creativity just when we need it the most. Similarly to other factors which influence our mood and creativity, food we bring into our bodies can have the same effect, although this can depend on a lot of factors and before you pack up on herbal teas, nuts and other nutrient-rich munchies, first check if you are allergic to anything. Also, see if your body will react in the same way as you are planning to do so. Making even mundane chores and jobs into pure awesomeness is only possible if you feel creative. Unless you can see the fun in your next task, it is time to think about improving your creative engine. The artificial world If we eat a lot of processed food, especially the kind that is rich in trans fats, or even excessive sugar can lead to quickly draining your creativity and slowing you down, making everything and everyone dull. Furthermore, artificial flavoring will not only ruin the great taste you could be experiencing but it also packs food with high amounts of everything that is not supposed to go into your body. If we eat a lot of junk food, drink a lot of caffeine and generally ruin the delicate balance in our body, then we will soon feel the aftermath. Fogginess, not being inspired and similar symptoms are only the tip of the iceberg of the rollercoaster of boredom and lethargy that will follow. Time for complex carbohydrates Most of us have heard about carbohydrates, sugar and flours, but complex carbs are part of the food which takes longer to break down and they are being better absorbed by the body, which leads to your brain enjoying more creative juices. Wholegrain breads, oats and other similar grains are not only good for getting the creative juices flowing, but they are great for your health as well. Brown rice is especially healthy and you will be able to make awesome gourmet meals using it. Remember that barley is also very healthy and if prepared well it can be used as a substitute for work time snacks. Fatty acids are crucial too The first thing when your see fat is to think about the fat which forms in our bodies, but this is different. Fatty acids are greatly required for our brain to function well and to process information at lightning speeds. The next time you are planning a snack, or if you want to cook a truly magnificent and tasty meal, do not forget to include hemp or flax seeds and even if you are able to get some, chia seeds. They will boost your creativity and your immunity as well. Walnuts are great for a light snack and to include in a variation of east to make meals. Avocados are great for making guacamole, healthy and tasty; also you can include them into a number of tasty meals. Using coconut and olive oil will add that extra exotic zing to your cooking. Most of the meals prepared this way, and all the seeds can be used in any office or even when you want a light snack. They will give you a quick much needed healthy boost of energy and creativity. Include antioxidants as well They are a healthy help for our cells to stay vital longer. Moreover, antioxidants also help our brains work better. The good thing is that a lot of antioxidants come with a combination of vitamins as well, so you will be able to enjoy a good tasty treat while getting your thinking cap on. Citrus fruits, berries, and even green tea is a great way to relax and regain creativity. At Cubic Promote, we like to kick back with a good hot cup of green tea while we let our brain power up. And if we feel really devilish, we also treat ourselves to some chocolate, but only the dark stuff is good and filled with antioxidants. At home, preparing squash and broccoli is healthy and rich with creative inducing antioxidants, so do not hesitate to make all kinds of specialties. Many people who desire to get rid of wrinkles turn to Botox, anti-aging creams and sometimes even make-up. Although these remedies work, their results are often short-lived. This is because they do not tackle the fundamental causes of wrinkles. The best way to fight wrinkles is to first of all tackle their physiological and psychological roots, and then awaken the body’s natural anti-aging mechanism to fight them. This is what face massage does.
Aside from being extremely relaxing and pleasurable, face massage is the natural way to fight wrinkles and look younger. This is so because of the following reasons: Improving strenght and elasticity of the skin Massaging the face improves the strength and elasticity of the skin around the face. Wrinkles usually form when the facial skin begins to lose its elasticity and thus starts sagging, folding or drooping. Massage can reverse this by improving blood circulation beneath the skin. According to Dr. Jody Albert Levine, a New York-based dermatologist, “If you move the muscles and skin on your face, it increases blood flow, which brings oxygen and nutrients to the area." The end result is that the skin gets the proper nourishment it needs to become healthy, vibrant and elastic. Removing toxins from the skin Aside from nourishment, face massage also encourages lymphatic drainage, thereby removing toxins from the skin. The accumulation such toxins usually causes the skin age faster thus becoming haggard, tired-looking and wrinkly. According to Dr. Jody, “as the lymph flows away from the skin, it is essentially decongesting the skin.” This means that the skin is able to regain its natural stretch, strength and elasticity. As such, the wrinkles disappear leaving the face smooth, vibrant and attractive. This is precisely the reason why the popular magazine Women’s Health wrote that “rubbing [the face] upwards can prevent wrinkles and stop sagging.” Relaxing facial muscles Face massage also fights wrinkles by relaxing the facial muscles and keeping them tight and well-toned. Wrinkles usually begin to appear when facial muscles begin to droop due to gravity acting on them. The reason for the drooping is the breakdown of the collagen and elastin fibers which hold the facial muscles and fat in place. According to Marie-Hélène Gaudinat, the L’Oreal Paris Science and Medical Communications Manager, face massage can slow the breakdown of collagen and elastin. She said “kneading and rubbing the face sends messages to the body to produce more collagen and elastin.” This has an effect of delaying the onset of wrinkles or – in case they have already appeared – causing them to disappear. Fighting stress-induced wrinkles Face massage is also the perfect way for fighting stress-induced wrinkles. It is generally known that prolonged stress, anxiety and worry can cause puffiness, facial strain and wrinkles. Face massage can eliminate such problems by alleviating the underlying stress and anxiety. These were the findings of a study carried out at the Japan’s Kyshu University in 2008. A similar study was carried out in Hong Kong with the help of massage therapists to find out the effect of face massage on the moods, stress and anxiety levels of women aged between 20 and 40. During the study, each of the 32 participants was given an average of 45 minutes of facial massage. The researchers used electrocardiogram recordings to measure the women’s heart rates, as well as their parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous activity. The research findings published in the Journal of Biomedical Research showed that face massage can improve moods, and reduce both stress and anxiety. Since stress and anxiety causes rapid aging, facial strain and the development of wrinkles, by eliminating them, face massage keeps someone looking vigorous, vibrant and youthful. In a nutshell, face massage is the perfect solution for anyone who desires to fight wrinkles and look younger. Apart from the above benefits, face massage can boost the immunity and make someone feel relaxed, vivacious and energetic. Therefore, besides just having no wrinkles and looking younger, a person ends up feeling youthful energy surging through their veins. As such, they not only look younger, but feel younger as well. This is the reason why many health experts now consider face massage as the ultimate natural anti-aging remedy. Image source: MyTudut (fickr.com) Written by: Romeo Demes |
